Dr. Fahad Alenezi

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Fahad Al-enezi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Kuwait. He completed the program of internal medicine organized by KIMS, the Kuwait Institute of Medical Sciences. Then he completed the Irish MRCP after which he was elected for FRCP of the same college. Dr. Al-enezi joined the London Ontario Regional Cancer Center (LRCC), Canada, and completed the fellowship training in the field of medical oncology. He was appointed as the head of the thoracic and sarcoma unit and then he chaired the medical oncology department. He is still working as a consultant internist and medical oncologist at the medical oncology department of the Kuwait Cancer Center (KCCC), focusing on thoracic, head and neck sarcomas, and primary unknown cancers. Currently, Dr. Al-enezi is the Chief of Excellence (Medical) Officer at KCCC [CEO; CMO]. Dr. Al-enezi’s clinical and academic activities have primarily focused on thoracic and adolescent oncology, including the different subtypes of sarcoma. Dr. Al-enezi directed his main goals towards disclosing the trends of cancer in Kuwait, implementing practices of cancer management based on evidence, and establishing various research activities at KCCC through utilizing available resources and collaborating with the KCCC scientific committee.

Dr. Salem AlShemmari

Dr. Salem AlShemmari

Director

Dr. Salem H. D. Al-Shemmari is a hematologist oncologist dedicated to advancing patient care in hematological and other malignancies through clinical practice, teaching, and research. He graduated from Kuwait University with a B.M.B.CH. degree and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Hemato-Oncology in 1994. He further specialized in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle in 1995. Dr. Salem serves as academic staff in the Department of Medicine, Kuwait University, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He established the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program and contributed to the Hematopathology and Hematology Fellowship Programs. He has established the myeloid neoplasm reference Lab at Kuwait Cancer Center. He is also a member of the Department of Hematology, Kuwait Cancer Center. Dr. Salem has authored over 60 peer-reviewed research papers, numerous review articles, technical reports, and laboratory manuals. He has led more than 10 peer-reviewed research grants, serving as principal investigator on 8. Author of a textbook titled ‘Basis of Malignant Hematology Practice in Kuwait: Emphasis on Local Data

Dr. Mohammad Soliman Ebraheem

Dr. Mohammad Soliman Ebraheem

Research Coordinator

Dr. Mohammad Soliman Ebraheem is a malignant hematologist at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center with a special interest in plasma cell neoplasms. He completed his internal medicine and hematology residencies at McMaster University in Canada, followed by an advanced fellowship in multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, and dysproteinemias at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He also holds a Master’s degree in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University, with a focus on evidence-based medicine.

Ahmed El-Sheashaey

Staff Pharmacist

Ahmed El-Sheashaey is the Chief Hospital Oncology Pharmacist and Medication Safety Officer at KCCC. Since joining in 2008, he has led major initiatives in chemotherapy and immunotherapy protocol development, hospital safety leadership, and multidisciplinary cancer care. He holds certifications in patient safety, sterile compounding, medication safety, and specialty pharmacy in oncology and hematology. As Staff Development Officer since 2012, he oversees pharmacist training and clinical competency development. Ahmed also contributes to research, abstracts, and pharmacoeconomics, and plays a leading role in establishing Kuwait’s first clinical and specialty oncology pharmacy service—supporting the transition to KCCC’s new, future-ready facility.
